Aiguillette des Houches is a summit in the Carlaveyron Nature Reserve that rises to an altitude of 2,285m and dominates the eponymous village below. It is much less widely known than Lac Blanc. This summit marks the western limit of the Massif des Aiguilles Rouges and provides spectacular views of the Massif du Mont-Blanc and the Massif des Fiz to the north.Aside from the breathtaking scenery, the site is a biodiversity hotspot: the Carlaveyron meadows are punctuated by small refuge ponds that include various species.The route to reach the Aiguillette des Houches starts at the parking lot of Parc de Merlet (Animal Park) located south of Chamonix. The route follows a loop that connects the Refuge de Bellachat.
