Can't get enough of Cannes

Infamous for the international Film Festival, Cannes receives a lot of attention, but it is the day-to-day life of Cannes that we love and celebrate. One of the many reasons why we included Cannes within some of our collections is because it is a must-place to visit out of season. There are plenty of things to do and see so why not explore when the weather is this good all year round?
Cannes Film Festival
Hosted in May every year, the Cannes film festival often gives a steer on the Oscar nominations for the year ahead, so is quite the occasion for any film buff. As you walk around, you’ll notice a shift in energy when the film festival is on - there is a new buzz throughout Cannes, an excitement that you can feel amongst people. Capture that buzz by getting dressed up and watching the red carpets, who knows who you might see!
Croisette Beach
We personally love to start or end the day with a short stroll along Croisette Beach, taking in the sea air and beautiful sunrise or sunset if you can. Lining the Cannes Waterfront, Boulevard de la Croisette is one of the most recognisable promenades in the whole of the South of France due to its never-ending list of stellar beach clubs, designer stores, and infamous five-star hotels. Start your holiday with a leisurely stroll down the promenade and beach - whether you’re more Gucci than you are Chanel, there’s something for everyone and you're bound to enjoy a taste of the high life.
Old town
Canne’s Old town is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of Cannes centre for a day - a way to appreciate the incredible views and history of the town as a whole. The 'old town' was originally the settlement of Romans due to its high vantage point, which ironically means it now looks down at Cannes. At the foot of the hill leading up to Le Suquet, you can find the Forville market aka Marché Forville, alongside a selection of gorgeous restaurants on the Rue Saint-Antoine. Start here and find yourself exploring this beautiful town - it feels so far removed from the Cannes we typically know and love, that it is a great area to explore. The top offers some of the best views over the entire town, looking out over the Mediterranean Sea, a huge sense of achievement and sights that will take your breath away.
Whilst exploring the old town, be sure to check out the Musée de la Castre to learn more about the medieval castle that was built here by monks in the 12th century.
Marche Forville
This traditional french outdoor market is open all year and specialises in quality produce harvested by local farmers and butchers. The perfect way to buy fresh and local produce to cook the best meals at home over the weekend.
Cycling
For the cyclists, the french riviera is a literal playground! With rolling hills and beautiful scenery, cyclists from all different terrains and experiences train here. So whether you’re just wanting to take in the sights, or push yourself to the very limit, you’ll have a great time exploring the mountain ranges.
Fromagerie Ceneri
You couldn’t go to the French Riviera and not experience some delicious cheese - a family-run business that has showcased its passion for cheese since 1968, it is the perfect place to indulge. With over 350 varieties of cheese that are refined in their cellars. We loved the Brie de Meaux with truffles, the goat cheese with basil, and the camembert with calvados, but there's plenty to try!
Île Sainte-Marguerite
Half a mile off the shore of Cannes, (just a short 15-minute boat ride) Marguerite Island is a natural beauty with an interesting history. With signposted trails across the island, you can explore the botany and history of this small island via short walks and local guides. We would recommend getting a boat to sail around and explore the shores - be sure to check out Billionaire’s Bay, but be wary of jellyfish as its crystal clear shore is a popular spot for them. If you time it or plan correctly, it is worth trying to book La Guerite as a great lunchtime spot to make the most of the day.
