An Evening with August and Waddington Custot Gallery

Last week, August hosted a celebration at Waddington Custot Gallery in London to mark the beginning of our collaboration with the gallery and to introduce the work of artist Kenia Almaraz Murillo. The event brought together members of the August community alongside several families who have recently joined the Paloma Collection, offering a rare opportunity to experience Kenia’s work privately within the gallery setting. Designed as a relaxed and considered occasion, it created space for conversation, between owners, future owners and the wider creative community surrounding Paloma. It was also a moment to see the pieces that will soon find their place within the Paloma homes themselves.
An Insight Into the Artist Behind Paloma
The evening centred around a private viewing of Kenia Almaraz Murillo’s woven pieces, allowing guests to encounter them in the gallery before they transition into their future domestic setting within the Paloma Collection.
A weaver of memory and material, Kenia’s work moves between worlds. Born in Bolivia and now based in Paris, her practice draws from Andean mythology and family traditions passed down through generations of women in her family. Her pieces carry these stories forward through weaving, combining ancestral techniques with contemporary sculptural forms.
Seen together in the quiet setting of the gallery, the works revealed the depth of this process. Threads, texture and colour became something closer to landscape than decoration, echoing the themes of heritage, place and continuity that sit naturally within the philosophy of Paloma.
The collaboration between Kenia, Waddington Custot and August felt instinctive from the outset, a meeting of craft, culture and thoughtful design.

A Private Viewing
Experiencing the works in person and discussing them together gave the evening a wonderful sense of openness. It was also a chance to welcome several of the final families joining the Paloma Collection, offering a relaxed moment to meet fellow owners and enjoy the pieces together.

A Community Taking Shape
The evening also marked an important moment for Paloma itself. With only a limited number of spaces left within the Prime collection, each owner becomes part of a carefully considered community.
Events like this are designed to bring that community together early, allowing relationships to form long before the first stays begin. Conversations unfolded naturally between guests as they moved through the gallery, reflecting the spirit we hope defines Paloma: thoughtful, welcoming and quietly connected. As the Collection approaches the arrival of their first home acquisition in Mallorca, it was particularly special to meet several of the final families joining Paloma.

The Paloma Collection
Kenia’s work will soon find its place within the Paloma homes, becoming part of the everyday rhythm of life there. The evening at Waddington Custot offered a first glimpse of that relationship between art, home and community, and a reminder that Paloma is not only about beautiful places, but about the people who will gather within them.
